This data is stored in EpicCare’s single secure electronic medical record easily available to staff either remotely or in the office. This tool is an intuitive, flexible system that clinicians like to use and are quick to adopt.

The system facilitates quick access to all information needed to efficiently treat patients, improve the continuity of care, maximize patient safety, and reduce redundant procedures and costs. Imbedded clinical decision support tools remind providers of current clinical guidelines, possible contraindications to care and provide tools for population and disease management.

Clinical Content
OCHIN offers Epic’s model system build of clinical content selected from more than 150 of the most advanced and largest health system in the country as well as the customized development of OCHIN’s current members.

This offers new members with documentation templates, preformatted scripts, order panels, flow sheets and other tools used in similar organizations to your own. This provides a head start for clinical efficiency and productivity for your providers when they first start to use the system.

E-Prescribing
OCHIN’s interface integrates two Surescripts Information Exchange® hubs that allow prescription orders to be sent electronically to pharmacies nation-wide, and for the pharmacies to send refill authorization requests back to providers.

Interfaces and Community Connectivity
Each EHR implementation includes a LAB interface. OCHIN has a long history of interfacing external systems to our EHR significantly reducing the need for double entry and improving productivity.

OCHIN currently maintains more than 25 lab interfaces, multiple imaging interfaces and in 2009 will also complete the implementation of infrastructure to support the exchange of information with other organizations EHRs.

Advanced Role Based Security
Role based security and audit trails provide the most comprehensive data security and user tracking. This assures that staff are using the EHR correctly and guards against unauthorized access to the patient medical record.
Document Management & Scanning Solutions
OCHIN provides an integrated enterprise content management module that integrates document management, business process management and records management in a single application.

OCHIN uses this tool for the scanning, indexing and retrieval of clinical information that flows into the clinics from sources that do not already have interfaces.

Reporting & Benchmarking
Business Objects is OCHIN’s report development, scheduling and management environment. OCHIN and its members use this industry leading tool to report on and analyze data from the Epic database for all clinical and practice management reporting needs.

With this tool, and the power of the collaboration with our members, OCHIN can provide benchmarking across community health centers (including FQHC's and RHC's) small practices and public health departments not available anywhere else.

In addition to the above system, OCHIN has developed a product we call Solutions. Solutions provides OCHIN members with a powerful quality improvement data warehousing tool pre-packaged with 150 clinical and non-clinical metrics used in other large clinical organizations.
